Highlights from SciEngineering Conference 2024

At SciEngineer, we’re on a mission to foster a SciEngineering evolution—fueling innovation through knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving. As the official distributor of MATLAB, Simulink, COMSOL Multiphysics, and Speedgoat, we created the SciEngineering Conference to bridge the gap between advanced engineering tools and their real-world applications.

Now in its third year, the 2024 SciEngineering Conference brought together over 150 engineers, researchers, and industry professionals on October 17 in Budapest, Hungary. The one-day event highlighted how today’s leading tools are used to solve complex challenges in sectors like automotive, energy, aerospace, defense, and medical technology.

Hands-On Innovation

The conference stood out for its hands-on approach, giving participants the chance to explore how MATLAB, Simulink, COMSOL Multiphysics, and Speedgoat streamline engineering workflows, reduce costs, and accelerate innovation.

Live demo showcases allowed attendees to see these tools in action—solving challenges such as optimizing automotive systems and designing energy-efficient solutions. The event also created valuable networking opportunities, fostering collaboration across industries.

Inside the Event

The 2024 program offered a rich blend of technical talks, interactive demos, and roundtable discussions, covering themes such as:

• AI and machine learning
• Electrification and e-mobility
• Model-Based Design
• Technical computing
• Finite element simulation

Attendees could tailor their experience through three thematic tracks: Electrification, AI, and Multiphysics. After inspiring opening remarks from our CEO, Péter Bolesza, and Head of Engineering, Lajos Varga, the day unfolded into deep dives and real-world case studies.

  An exciting exploration of the engineering precision behind F1 pit stops and what they teach us about high-performance system design.
• Calculation of the Lifetime Expectancy of Battery Fuse by Lucjan Strehar, Research Engineer, ETI Elektroelement d.o.o.
  A deep dive into safety-critical considerations in battery system design and electrical engineering.
• Roundtable: Functional Safety & ISO 26262
  Moderated by Bence Nagy, Application Engineer at SciEngineer, with panelists:
  Georgi Zhganev, Visteon
  Domenico Ferrari, MathWorks
  Dániel Kovács, Rimac Technology
  An engaging discussion on ensuring functional safety in embedded systems and navigating ISO 26262 compliance.
• PGA-Based Neural Processing Unit for Hyperspectral Image Analysis in Planetary Defense by Gábor Fazekas & Gábor Farkas, SCP Innovation
  Showcased a cutting-edge neural processing pipeline built in MATLAB for real-time space mission analytics.

The day closed with a relaxed Beer & Networking session—an informal wrap-up that encouraged continued dialogue and new connections.
