Topology optimization is a software-based method that helps reduce extra material that isn’t necessary to the overall function of a product by analyzing stress distribution and the amount of strain energy.

By building lightweight yet strong products, engineers can guarantee that their designs are not just durable but can also be produced while keeping costs under control and on time.

To effectively implement the topology optimization technique during the concept design stage, design engineers must have a certain level of specialized knowledge and expertise.

The Optimization Module, an add-on to COMSOL Multiphysics®, provides engineers with a user-friendly interface that simplifies the topology optimization process and makes it accessible to engineers and designers at all levels of experience.

In this video, we discuss the Optimization Module and how it can be used to create optimized designs that meet performance goals in both a time- and cost-effective manner.
