The job

The Business Development Manager at SciEngineer plays a strategic role in driving growth across multiple industries and eight countries in the Balkan and Central European regions. This position focuses on managing a diverse portfolio of clients, cultivating strong, long-term relationships, and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.

Working in close collaboration with our engineering and marketing teams, the Business Development Manager acts as a trusted advisor—bringing industry expertise, market forecasts, and technical insights to every conversation. Success in this role means not only meeting targets, but also contributing to the evolution of how SciEngineer delivers value to its partners.

With a focus on innovation, collaboration, and regional market expertise, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact across a broad client base and help shape the future of industrial solutions in Central Europe.

The daily routine:

  • Take full responsibility for and provide end-to-end management of a business portfolio across various industries, covering the following countries: Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, and Albania.

  • Build and maintain long-term, effective relationships with customer decision-makers and end users.

  • Understand customers’ business and technical needs, identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities (new products, training, consultation services).

  • Become a trusted advisor to clients.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in strong cooperation with the engineering and marketing teams.

  • Serve as an industry expert, providing industrial forecasts, collecting and sharing industry insights, and presenting case studies to clients to generate new market needs.

  • Continuously develop technical skills, monitor technological developments, and credibly represent them to customers.

The essentials:

  • University/College degree

  • 5+ years of experience in product and service sales, with a consultative sales approach

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

  • Proactive and results-oriented personality

  • Team player with a collaborative attitude

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong interest in learning new technologies

The nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in the automotive industry (engineering, sales, or marketing positions)

  • Experience in software or technology product/service sales

  • Technical degree (e.g., Engineering, Mathematics, Physics)

  • Knowledge of or user experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and COMSOL

  • Proficiency in Hungarian, Serbian, Croatian, Bulgarian, or Romanian languages

This is a full-time (100%) position based in our Budapest office and may include travel to our Customers in regional countries (25-40%), offering the chance to work with top-tier experts and make a real impact in the world of engineering innovation.
